BABA - Our Own Long-Suffering Sweet, Sweet Sandal Sweet Heart

 ककुभि ककुभि भ्रान्त्वा भ्रान्त्वा विलाक्य विलोकितं मलयजसमो दृष्टोऽस्माभिनं कोऽपि महीरुहः। उपचिरसो दाहे च्छेदे शिलातलघर्षणे- ऽपयधिकमधिक यत सौरभ्यं तनाति मनोहरम्।।

 Kakubhika kakubhi bhrántvá bhrántvá vilákya vilokitaḿ Malayajasamo dr śt́o’smábhinaḿ ko’api mahiiruhah; Upaciraso dáhe cchede shilátalagharśańe- ’payadhikamadhik yata saorabhyaḿ tanáti manoharam.

 [In many lands we have traveled, many sights we have seen, But never has there been a tree to equal the sandalwood tree. The more it is burned and cut and ground upon a stone, Still, all the more does its stored-up sap emit its sweet perfume.] 

 Now, most devotees know that Baba has an unbelievable sandal scent. Even when He wiped the sweat from His forehead with a towel, then that towel would have such an amazing sandal scent. In Chennai, one can buy high-quality sandalwood and make sandalwood paste. But that sandalwood scent is simply nothing compared to Baba's scent. Now Baba also blesses us other fragrances of His but His sandal scent is the most predominant. When we do ardent kiirtana calling out for Baba to come, we first feel His presence usually by experiencing this sandal fragrance. Now the Sanskrit shloka above talks about another unique quality of the sandalwood plant. The more the tree is used and abused, the more and more soothing, sweet fragrance it gives. Is this not just like our Baba too? Loving Disciples Who Would Leave And we all know right from when the 1st initiations started, margis would beg Him to solve all their job and family problems. He gave them thus the sweet perfume of His Blessings. Never tell them how He had to suffer to do all of this by taking their samskaras. He brought to Him many people He knew would either abandon Him or betray Him and showered them with blessings. Acarya D upon whom He did so many demonstrations were told in 1958 that he would abandon Baba. Margi B. whom Baba brought back to life and who was always in bhava and could put people into samadhi by touching them - he abandoned Baba and tried to get His workers jailed. Acarya J. S., the most famous Kapalika who had many siddhis abandoned Him also. Acarya N whose Baba stories have brought joy to so many margis also abandoned him. Asthanaji who wrote the 1st biography of Baba and was showered with blessings but went against Him. Acarya A. R. S. who knew Baba right from the early days also abandoned Him. The list goes on and on.... But Baba's Love went on and on...He said He was forgiving all after coming out of Jail, except those 3 people who had brought harm to margis and WTs. These include the foremost betrayer - His own wife, who worked so hard to turn all the newspapers against Him and tried hard to have Him hanged by giving evidence in Court that was so obviously false. Baba used to send her saris after this on festival days. He was willing to accept her back if she made a public statement admitting how she was funded by the CBI in her campaign against Him. Who will welcome someone who tried to get you hanged - only our own long-suffering, eternally fragrant Baba. Public Opposition You know that when Baba was only 9 years old, Muslim fanatics tried to kill Him by setting Him on fire because His Horoscope said He would end all religions and establish Dharma. And we know that right from when Ananda Marga started, the Hindu fanatics started to send goondas (thugs) to kill Him because He wanted to end the caste system once and for all and because He revealed the lost glory of Tantra and rejected the Vedic and Puranic religion. The editor of Naujawan Press called His revolutionary Ananda Marga a young snake that should be killed while young. In the early 1960s, Arya Samaja (the founding Hindu fundamentalist organization) went further than the usual attacks and even attacked the DMC. Baba told all not to worry and said Kalikanandaji would take care of everything. Then big electric sparks fell down suddenly from the sky (details need to be researched) and the attack ended. Baba's response to these attacks was to give the sweet perfume of Universal Humanism or what is today called NeoHumanism. We all know on March 5, 1967, 6 years after Baba gave PROUT philosophy and 2 years after He started to implement it in Ananda Nagar - the communists made their 1st attempt to kill Him with a massive attack of thugs. They continued each year culminating in 1969 when in Cooch Bihar, bombs were thrown in Baba's Quarters and again a big band of thugs assaulted the DMC attempting to kill Him. While His so-called VSS leaders fled away, a young volunteer Ravi Sarkar gave his life thus stopping the assault. When Baba was thrown in Jail after this, almost none of His devotees bothered to even say anything let alone do anything. Baba's response to all these attacks was to give the sweet perfume of all His vast development plans for Ananda Nagar as the nucleus of a new Cosmic Society. He also gave Prout's Agrarian or Farmers' Revolution - something that no Proutist has attempted to date. He also revealed the essence of Human Civilization and what are the 6 foundations of developing a genuine civilization at a time when communism was destroying civilization all over the world. Above all, He gave so many samadhis to so many common, undeserving people. He gave demonstrations on ordinary margis/workers who were not even spiritual people and quite a few of whom did not even love Him. Jail Ordeal Then came the Jail Yuga. Right from the start margis and WTs began leaving in fear. Many abandoned Him while He was in Jail and then again came for blessings and love after He came out of Jail. For those who remained true to Him, He took upon Himself all the suffering as He said, like the mother hen shielding the baby chicks. And He welcomed His children in the Jail, listening to their small problems and never talking about all the pain He was enduring. Rather He would give them such love in a short visit and silently take their samskaras, thus adding to the suffering He was already undergoing. Truly the fragrance of Baba's endless Tapasya (Austerities) and Tyaga (Sacrifice) in Jail will live down the centuries - on this planet and on other planets as well. Karma Brahma In Jail, Baba said that He was Karma Brahma and that only by action can we give Him joy. It is simply unbelievable how despite intense opposition and attacks from the communists, how many treasures in the form of systems of divine knowledge, He showered us with. How many lives did He transform by just a single Namaskar or by the boundless depths of a gaze that officially lasted only for less than half a minute? How many have cried just by seeing one smile? And those songs of His - that He had to threaten to tear up in order to make us express our love for them - how much fragrance of Baba is there in each song? Can we really even begin to fathom it all? And He worked His workers out, demanding the impossible in order to create the total surrender. So many insults, beatings, left devotees so light and full of love even when the body ached. This is because of His removing samskaras, expanding their minds so that they could receive more and more love. Once again, Baba knew that so many of those workers would leave Him and that others would betray Him by trying to grab control of His Ananda Marga and exploit His margis. He knew that all would abandon His Revolutionary Mission and make His Radioactive Ideology into a tea-party philosophy for intellectual seminars. He knew that so many of His workers and margis would abandon NeoHumanism and support 1st their birthplace group and then their birth religion. But still, He loves them so! Still today Baba blesses so much all who do His sadhana, who sing His Name and who read His words and even those who do not. He heeds no betrayal and asks nothing but gives everything. He has already chosen who will be His new WTs, His new Margis who will be the 1st Pandavas - who are ready to fight and die for His Mission of Dharma Yuddha against capitalism. And this is all just a glimpse of a tiny drop of the sandal-like perfume of Baba's Sacrifice/Tyaga that has been and is filling today the hearts of all beings with such exquisitely self-effacing love - whether they know it or not. This is why we say that Baba is Our Sandal SweetHeart. This is why His sweetness makes us cry. Now please, you all tell us all this in much more detail with so much more love. -- "Let (His) tale of torture be known by every person of the world, on every continent, in every country, and in every house." -
